Event: The 8th Annual Gainesville Senior Games presented by Shands Health Care, is an Olympic-style competition for athletes age 50 and over.
The Gainesville Senior Games are sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and is a local qualifier for the Florida State Senior Games Championships on
December 6 – 14 in Lee County (Cape Coral). This is a qualifying year for the National Senior Games in Palo Atlo, CA. The Senior Games gives people over
the age of 50 a chance to continue an active lifestyle, while pursuing friendly competition. The Gainesville Senior Games are funded by the City of Gainesville
and the Alachua County Visitors and Conventions Bureau.
New this year: The Gainesville Senior Games has added the 40 year old Master’s division in Swimming, Tennis, and Track and Field.
Dates: Thursday, October 16 through Sunday, October 19, 2008
Locations: Athletic competition for the 12 sports will be held at various sites throughout the Gainesville area.

Awards: Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in each
event for each age group. The top five competitors in each age group for each sport will qualify for the State Senior Games in
Lee County and the City of Cape Coral on December 6-14, 2008.
