8th Annual Gainesville Senior Games

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Sports Commission (GSC) is proud to announce that registration is now open for the
8th Annual Gainesville Senior Games in Alachua County. The Senior Games is presented by Shands Health Care, and will take place from
Oct. 16 to Oct. 19, 2008. The GSC invites all athletes, 50 and up, from Alachua County, the surrounding counties and the entire state
to register and participate in over 12 exciting sports events. New to this year’s games is the 40 year old Master’s division in Swimming, Tennis, and Track and Field.
This year’s Senior Games will feature archery, basketball shooting, 3 on 3 half court basketball, bowling, cycling, golf, horseshoes,
road race, tennis, swimming, table tennis, and track and field. The top five competitors in each age group for each sport will qualify
for the State Senior Games in Lee County and the City of Cape Coral on December 6-14, 2008. This is a qualifying year for the National
Senior Games in Palo Atlo, CA. Don’t miss out on the fun, friendships and the experience of the 2008 Gainesville Senior Games.

The Senior Games are funded by the City of Gainesville and the Alachua County Visitors and Conventions Bureau.
This Local Senior Games is sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and is a qualifier for the Florida State Senior Games Championships.
